FreeScanner can read and handle almost all barcodes and QR codes. Instead, a special app called Photo Booth is specifically designed to take pictures and record them with the webcam. I am able to use my iPhone and camera to scan a QR code (which contains WiFi network information) and easily connect to a WiFi network without needing to enter an SSID, username/password.
